‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 9 Spoilers: Avery, Alex Stepping Up, Cristina and Owen Getting Back Together?

The upcoming season (the season of romance) of Grey’s Anatomy by Shonda Rhimes will feature the Residents of Seattle Grace as Attendings.

The eighth season finale which aired in May featured the death of Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh) and the departure of Kim Raver aka Teddy. In addition, Eric Dane, who has played Mark “McSteamy” Sloan since the second season, announced last week that he is leaving after wrapping his storyline in the upcoming season.

Eric Dane Leaving ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Derek (Patrick Dempsey), Cristina (Sandra Oh), Mark (Eric Dane), Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and Lexie (Chyler Leigh) — has a plane crash in the mountains, with Lexie subsequently dying. Although there seemed to be no hope in the last season finale, the doctors will eventually get rescued.

According to many blogs, there will be a time-jump on the next season of “Grey’s Anatomy.” The first episode will begin two-three months after the plane crash. Shonda Rhimes told TVGuide, “they’re located where they’re going to be located, things are happening. You see the aftermath of what happened. You’re left with some questions as to how this happened and “Why is this the way it is?” and “Why is that the way it is?”" However, the second episode will return to the woods, fans learn what went on in the woods. The following episodes will return to the regular timeline.

The upcoming season will be shot in two locations: Seattle Grace and another hospital. Rhimes promised, fans will “understand why some people stayed and why some people left. There are some very clear reasons what happened.”

Some doctors will leave Seattle Grace, while some will be preparing to leave. Rhimes acknowledged to TVGuide, “when we come back at the beginning of the season, some of our doctors are in different locations, more than one of them, and some of our doctors are preparing to leave for different locations.”

Of course, there will be some physical inquiries following the plane crash. Another effect of the plane crash is the way the doctors will react. According to Rhimes interview with TVGuide, “their attitudes are very different. They already have the coping mechanisms in place, so it’s just a very different attitude.”

Gaius Charles will recur in “Grey’s Anatomy

As for Cristina and Owen, Rhimes teased, the couple will find their way back to each other. “It’s not going to be easy and it’s not going to be quick, but I think it’s going to be really beautiful.”

With Eric Dane leaving, EW reports showrunner Rhimes wants Justin Chambers (Alex) and Jesse Williams (Avey) to “step up.” “The loss of ‘McSteamy’ is going to leave a giant hole in our world in terms of — for lack of a better phrase — man whore-ness. I’ve told the actors who play Alex and Jackson that we need some leading men here. We need to add to that pool, and they’re going to step up. I think the breed of what Eric Dane did can never be replaced, but I do think there’s some room for some men at the hospital to spread their wings. We haven’t seen that in a while.”

When asked about her characters’ fate, Rhimes was tight-lipped, but she did mention April will return to her family’s farm. But she will return to the hospital in an interesting way.

Rhimes shared with THR, “we’ve been calling this season the season of romance and talking about playing up the romance of surgery and the romance between characters and the romance of friendships and really mining that as much as we can so it’s not going to be a dark season.”

“Grey’s Anatomy” is set to premiere Thurs., Sept. 27 on ABC.

‘American Horror Story’ Gets a New Name

The second season of “American Horror Story” will incur a lot of changes. One of changes happen to be its name: “American Horror Story.” FX revealed today the second season of “AHS” will be called “American Horror Story: Asylum.”

Showrunner Ryan Murphy explained in a statement,“when we launched the show last year, we kept quiet about the closed-ended nature of the show because we didn’t want to tip off the audience that the characters were not going to survive. Now that it has been established that each year is a closed-ended story, the time seemed right to reveal what we’re calling the new installment.”

Murphy continued, “we picked Asylum because it not only describes the setting – an insane asylum run by Jessica Lange’s character which was formerly a tuberculosis ward – but also signifies a place of haven for the unloved and the unwanted. This year’s theme is about sanity and tackling real life horrors.”

The upcoming season will star Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe and Zachary Quinto as well as Adam Levine, Franka Potente, James Cromwell, Joseph Fiennes, Mark Consuelos, Chris Zylka and Clea Duvall.
