‘The Amazing Race:’ Lake Manyara, Tanzania. Season 20 ep. 8.

Last night’s episode of “The Amazing Race” was intense, there was a lot of anger, betrayal, and rage. The race picked up in Tanzania, where Rachel and Dave departed first, closely followed by the cowboys, border patrols, “Big Brother” couple and dating divocrees. All teams enjoyed the view as they made their way through Africa’s Garden of Eden, Ngorongoro Crater to locate their next clue. As Bopper said, “they seen animals they didn’t even know what it was.” LOL. Not surprising Art & J.J., did not care much for the view and were in a hurry to get to the next clue.

The next task was a Detour. Teams could either choose ‘air Supply’ or ‘water supply’. The cowboys, married couple, “Big Brother”, chose air supply while Art and J.J. chose water supply. Air supply required teams to patch and pump a deflated bicycle wheel. Water supply on the other hand required teams to queue like the locals for water and deliver it to a house marked with “the amazing race” colors. Rachel and Dave had an argument while fixing their wheel making the cowboys finish first. Upon arriving at the next clue box which was also the double u-turn box, Mark and Bopper were faced with the decision of U-Turning a team but decided against it. If a team were u-turned the team has to complete the other detour. Meanwhile Vanessa and Ralph had a little trouble locating the first clue box while Nary and Jamie were just making their way through the beautiful carter.

At the other side of town, Rachel and Dave also decided not to use the u-turn (although they had an agreement with Art & J.J. during the fifth leg to u-turn the “Big Brother”couple). The Border patrols completed the detour before Brenchel and u-turned Brenchel thinking Rachel and Dave were behind them (because the married couple did not u-turn Brendon & Rachel). Brendon & Rachel realized they were u-turned by Art & J.J.,then decided to u-turn Vanessa & Ralph. Meanwhile, Mark & Bopper were still in the lead as they made their way to the roadblock task. Roadblock challenged the teams to remain calm as they collected 500 grams of Honey from various beehives. After teams complete the roadblock, they had to make their way by foot to the pit stop, Lake Manyara.

Finally, Art & J.J. had an opportunity to ask Rachel & Dave why they didn’t use u-turn like they promised. The response Rachel & Dave gave were the “teachers” were three hours behind them so there was no need to use the u-turn. Of course, this response made J.J. so angry that he decided to cut ties with his alliance. Lastly, Mark and Bopper came first this week although Bopper struggled while running to the pit-stop with his busted knee. The best friends won a trip to Hawaii. :) The cowboys were closely followed by Rachel & Dave, Art & J.J., Rachel & Brendon and Vanessa and Ralph. Nary and Jamie were eliminated this week, the team fell behind due to their speed bump.

Are you surprised to see Nary & Jamie eliminated?

The Amazing Race” airs Sundays, 8/7c on CBS!

‘The Amazing Race:’ Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. Season 20 Ep. 7.

On this episode of ‘The Amazing Race’ there was a lot of Drama! Yes, Rachel and Vanessa finally went head to head. But before we get to that…

…The military couple departed first since they won the last leg, closely followed by the Border patrols, Brenchel, Cowboys, Federal agents and the Dating divorcees. Upon arriving at the Travel agency, Art and J.J. informed everyone excluding Rachel and Dave that the federal agents are some kind of law enforcement officials and not teachers (because of a conversation they had during the previous leg). Of course that  got everyone talking. Brendon naturally told Nary & Jamie what Art & J.J. said about them. The girls did not seem fazed by this announcement.

Everyone boarded the same flight to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania via Nairobi, Kenya. The catfight occurred during the transfer to Tanzania. Vanessa and Ralph claim Brendon and Rachel bumped them while they raced to the transfer counter in Kenya, which caused some chaos. There was some alleged flipped bird. It was Team Brenchel vs. Team Dating Divorcees. There was yelling, & some back and forth about Rachel’s nose job, boob job & weight. Of course you know Rachel snapped & cried but there were no tears! Vanessa went further by saying Rachel cried because of her low self-esteem and if she cannot take it she should not dish it. Art and J.J. also stirred up drama by confronting Nary & Jamie about their professions. The women denied being Federal agents (but we know they are not teachers).

Eventually, the teams made their way to their first task via a charter plane. Art & J.J. and Brenchel were on the  first flight. The Cowboys & the Military couple were on the second flight, while the federal agents & dating divorcees were on the last flight. The view was beautiful. Teams had to choose a safari vehicle and head off to a nearby village. Art & J.J. got there first and had to choose a Detour, ‘marksmanship’ or ‘courtship.’ ‘Courtship’ required the teams to jump about 8,000 feet above sea-level for a minute, however, ‘marksmanship’ required teams to use a local weapon to shatter a clear target. Brenchel and the cowboys  choose ‘courtship’ while border patrols, federal agents, dating divorcees, and military couple chose the other. The latter teams had a bit of trouble with this detour. Brendon and Rachel completed the detour first, got their next clue and made their way back to their Safari truck via bicycles, with the other teams trailing behind them.

Due to some direction errors, Rachel & Dave were the first team to arrive at the next challenge. The next task was to create a campsite for the night. Rachel and Dave were already building their campsite, when the other teams joined them. The married couple argued a lot while building their camp for the night. They clearly have some major communication issues. Vanessa and Ralph were the last team to arrive at the campsite. Despite their argument, Rachel and Dave completed the last task first making them the first team to check in with Phil. The couple won a trip to Costa Rica!  They were closely followed by Mark & Bopper, Art & J.J., Brenchel, Vanessa & Ralph. J.J. is a sore loser, it seems he does not want any other team but his team to come first all the time.  Nary and Jamie were the last team to check in with Phil. Although, they thought they were going to be eliminated but thankfully it is a non-elimination leg. Therefore, the girls are still in the race and will incur a speed bump during the next leg.

What team are you on? Team Brenchel or Team Dating divorcees? The race continues next week, until then Race fans!

“The Amazing Race” airs Sundays on CBS at 8 EST.

‘The Amazing Race.’ Bavaria, Germany. Season 20 ep. 5

Bopper and Mark were the comeback team this leg of the race. They aced their Speed Bump and checked in with Steve before a couple of teams. This leg of the race involved the Travelocity Gnome.

The teams traveled to Bavaria, Germany via Austria. Art and J.J. departed first since they won the last leg of the race. Each team picked up a Travelocity Gnome. The next clue was a Detour, the teams could either choose Fairy Tale or Champion Male. Fairy Tale, the teams had to follow a trail of Gingerbread, pick some Gingerbread as they make their way to a Witch’s cottage. They also had to complete the roof of the Gingerbread’s house and decorate it. While Champion Male, the teams were required to style a male’s beard with hair products to match a winning look. The Art & J.J., Rachel & Dave, Joey & Danny, Vanessa & Ralph, Nary & Jamie chose Champion Male task, while Mark & Bopper, Rachel & Brendon, and Kerri & Stacey chose the Fairy Tale Detour.

But before the Cowboys could complete their Detour they had to perform their Speed Bump task. A team incurs a Speed Bump if they were the last team to check in Steve during a non-elimination leg. The Speed Bump challenge was Yodel. Mark and Bopper were required to yodel a tune like the locals. Mark ans Bopper did not exactly “Yodel” like the locals did, but the Yodel master gave them their next clue.

The next clue instructed the teams to find a Castle (Neuschwanstein) which  inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle, and find their next clue in King Ludwig II’s bedroom, which was a Roadblock. Four teams -the married couple, federal agents, best friends, and the cousins- all went to the wrong neighboring castle.  This Roadblock instructed the teams to drive to an ice-hockey rink and curling arena where a team member was to complete a curl challenge with their Travelocity Gnome. J.J., Danny, Ralph, Nary, Brendon, Rachel, Kerri and Mark performed this challenge for their respective teams.

Art & J.J. were the first team to finish the Roadblock task, which made them they first team to check in with Phil in a dairy Farm (winning them a trip to Thailand). Most teams had some difficulty completing this task, while some completed the Roadblock in a couple of minutes. Nary & Jamie were the last team at the Ice-hockey rink, but they were not the team eliminated this week. Kerri & Stacey were the team eliminated this week, the cousins had a little difficulty navigating their way to the Pit-Stop.  The teams finished this leg in the following order: Art & J.J., Joey & Danny, Vanessa & Ralph, Rachel & Dave, Brendon & Rachel, Bopper & Mark and Nary & Jamie.

Art and J.J. have been the winning team three times in row. Will another team disrupt their winning streak? Find out next week.

Rant:

I do not have much to rant about this week. It was actually a friendly race. The bickering couple this week was Vanessa and Ralph. At least she did not break down like Rachel did last week. Of course I was wrong, the next destination was not exotic, but it was a fun destination. You would think curling would be easy. Wrong! I will miss the cousins, they were fun. ‘The Amazing Race’ is brand new next Sun., until then TAR fans!

“The Amazing Race” airs Sundays on CBS at 8 EST.

‘The Amazing Race;’ Turin, Italy. Season 20, ep. 4 recap.

The Amazing Race: S20E04: 'Taste Your Salami'

On this episode of “The Amazing Race,” there were a lot of meltdowns. The ‘married couple,’ and the ‘Big Brother couple’ were arguing a lot during this leg of the race. This episode was a roller coaster emotional ride. Art and J.J. departed first at 5:10 p.m. because they were the first team to check in with Steve. The clue instructed the teams to book a flight to Turin, Italy. The Cowboys were not on the same flight as the other teams because they did not book their flight through a travel agent.

Every team was on the same flight except for the Cowboys, putting them an hour and fifteen minutes behind the other teams.  Upon arriving in Turin, the teams were having problems driving in Italy. The “cousins” were left because Kerri could not drive a stick. The next clue was either a Fast Forward or Roadblock. The Fast Forward ‘Land a Helicopter on a Building’ task instructed the teams to land a helicopter on a helmet pad. This task will allow the team that completes this task to skip the rest of the tasks and go directly to the next pit stop. Art and J.J. were the first team to receive the clue so they chose the Fast Forward task. J.J. wore the helmet while Art landed the helicopter on J.J.’s helmet. Art hard a bit of difficulty with this challenge.

While the other teams chose the Roadblock clue. The Roadblock ‘Rappel’ task instructed the teams to “rappel” down the building and get their next clue. The challenge of this task was to “ rappel” down the building in two minutes if the team cannot complete the task under two minutes, the team has to run up the building, and attempt the Roadblock challenge again. Being a Combat Pilot, Dave wanted the Fast Forward task but Rachel, his wife was against it, saying Art and J.J. were already doing the task or are probably done with the task. Rachel, Joey, Rachel, Vanessa, Jamie, Stacey, and Bopper completed the Roadblock for their respective teams. However, Vanessa and Jamie did not get their next clue under two minutes so they had to do the task twice.

Brenchel, Rachel and Brendon were in first place with the “Jersey boys,” Joey and Danny close on their heels. The next clue instructed the teams to park their Ford Focus using the Ford Focus active park feature and look for their next clue in a Museum. Brendon and Rachel fought so much that they lost their lead start. The next clue was a penny, the teams were to find the building on the penny, ride the elevator to the top of the building and find their next clue.

Finally, Art and J.J. accomplished their Fast Forward task and got their last clue of this leg of the race. The clue instructed the “Border Patrols” to find their next pit-stop, making them the team in first place. Meanwhile, Bopper and Mark landed in Turin, Italy while the “cousins” Kerri and Stacey arrived at the Roadblock task. Stacey conquered her fear of height again, she completed the roadblock challenge with ease.  Brendon and Rachel were still arguing putting them in sixth place. Art and J.J. were the first team to finish this leg of the race, while Bopper and Mark were performing their Roadblock task.

The next clue was a Detour. The teams could either choose “Clean Statue” or “Name Salami.” ”Clean Statue” the teams were required to clean a statue with the supplies given to them. While “Name Salami” the teams were required to taste fourteen salamis and travel half a mile to a vendor and find each Salamis. Every team except for Brendon and Rachel chose the “Clean Statue.” Rachel and Dave,  the second team to check in with Phil, while “Jersey Boys” came in 3rd, Vanessa and Ralph in fourth place, Nary and Jamie in fifth place.

Kerri and Stacey caught with Brendon and Rachel because the “Big Brother couple” wasted a lot of  time arguing. Brendon and Rachel got their act together and finished the Detour checking with Steve in sixth place, while Kerri and Stacey checked in seventh place. The “best friends” were the last team to finish this leg of the race. :( They thought they were eliminated, but it was a non elimination leg so the Cowboys are still in the game.  :) So eight teams are still in the race.

Rant:

The “border patrols” gave Bopper the ten thousand they won this leg of the race to help his daughter. That was a very sweet.  It seem the Rachels had some trouble communicating with their partners this week. Rachel and Dave have a great communication issue, I thought they might quit the race for a minute. I get where Dave is coming from, he a Combat Pilot so he probably could have completed the Fast Forward with ease. The “married couple” do not listen to each other,  that could be a problem in a long run.

Oh Rachel! Rachel and Brendon, the “Big Brother couple.” Rachel was having one of her many breakdowns. I guess I’m used to it, having watched “Big Brother.” I’m pretty sure Rachel may break down a couple more times before the race is over. The funny lines of the night were, “We are going somewhere tropical” & “I know a little Italy, Italy is the only Italy I know.” Mark and Bopper always crack me up. Why is Vanessa always hating on Rachel’s outfit tho? Lmao! Brendon called the “dating divorcees” ‘the ogre and the trifling hoe.’ These teams definitely do not like each other. The battle line have been drawn. The teams i’m rooting for are: Brenchel, the “federal agents,” and the “Cowboys.” What team/teams are you rooting for?”Were you surprised at Rachel’s meltdown or the lack of communication between the “married couple?”

I think the next leg will be challenging and will be somewhere different and exotic, until next Sunday then.

“The Amazing Race” airs Sundays on CBS at 8 EST.

“The Amazing Race;” Buenos Aires, Argentina Season 20, ep. 2 recap.

Rachel & Dave, the “Married couple” departed first at 2:46 am, since they were the first team to check in at the last pit stop. They were closely followed by the “Big Brother” couple, Brendon & Rachel, “Border Patrols” Art & J.J, “Federal Agents” Nary & Jamie, “Dating divorced couple” Vanessa & Ralph, “Twins” Elliot & Andrew, “Cousins” Kerri & Stacy, “Clowns” Dave & Cherie, “Friends” Mark & Bopper and “Friends” Joey & Danny.

The first clue of the episode instructed the teams to drive to Cafayate Town Square and find a the mounted horseman who will hand them their next clue. The mounted horseman comes in at dawn, so the teams caught up with each other. The next clue the teams received was a detour clue, they two options either do the “Boil My Water” task or “Light A Fire” task.

“Boil My Water”, the teams were required to build a solar kitchen, with the guide of a picture, and boil a kettle of water using solar energy and wait until the kettle whistles. While “Light A Fire” on the hand, instructed the teams to gather some clay and firewood by the river bank, load it on a Donkey, and lead it to a local pottery workshop a mile away. Every team except the “Border Patrols” chose the “Boil My Water” detour. The challenges of the “Boil My Water” task was to put together a solar kitchen by using a mere picture and waiting on the sun to boil a kettle of water.

All the teams arrived at their detour locations on time, while Art & J.J. fell behind while trying to find “The Amazing Race” marker that will lead them to  the “Light A Fire” place. Luckily the “Border Patrols” had some help, and were the second team to finished the detour task.  The Southern men were in first place. The next task requested the teams to board a 18 hours bus to Buenos Aires. The bus each team rode depended on the time they arrived at the bus terminal. The teams were divided on three buses. Art & J.J. Brendon & Rachel, Mark & Bopper and Rachel & Dave rode on the first bus while the teams on the second bus were the “Clowns,” “Jersey Boys,” “Dating divorced couple, ” and the “Twins.” That left the “Cousins” and the “Federal Agents” on the last bus to Buenos Aires.

On the way to Buenos Aires the second teams’ bus had a minor difficulty, which made Kerri, Stacy, Nary, and Jamie’s bus the second bus to arrive in Buenos Aires. Although Kerri, Stacy, Nary and Jamie were unaware when one of the buses broke down. Upon arriving at Buenos Aires, Rachel & Dave were the first team to find the next clue at Mercado De Hacienda De Liniers. The next task was a roadblock challenge. The task “Where is the beef?” required a member of each team to count the number of cattle in one of the corrals and calculate the average weight per cattle after an auctioneer yelled out the total weight of the cattle. The calculation had to be completed before the auctioneer move to another corral. The challenges of the roadblock were to calculate the average weight of the cattle without a calculator while the auction was going on.

After a few attempts, the teams realized they could not solve the task by themselves so they worked together. Rachel and J.J partnered up, while “Big Brother” Rachel and Mark worked together. The next clue which was handed to the Rachel and J.J. because they were the first team to finish the roadblock, instructed the teams to hail a taxi to El Gomero, the pit stop for this leg of the race. Once again Rachel and Dave were the first team to arrive at the pit stop, closely followed by the “Border Patrol, southern friends, and Brenchel (Brendon & Rachel).

Immediately as all the teams on the first bus checked in with Phil, the last bus rolled in. Joey and Andrew  solved the roadblock together leaving Dave, the “Married Clowns” in last place.  Dave, a member of the “Clowns” had some difficulty solving the roadblock.  This made the “Clowns” the last team to check in with Phil making them the second team eliminated. The “Federal Agents” lied to their fellow competitors that they are Teachers.

Rant:

J.J. and Art complain so much, it is annoying. The setback was only twenty minutes.  They eventually made up the time; they need to relax and enjoy their experience. I’m sad to see the “Clowns” leave, they were my underdogs. :( The “Cousins” are so adorable, cheering while they checked in with Phil. Rachel, known for crying all the time in the “Big Brother” house and breaking down did not disappoint me this week by having a minor breakdown. Lastly,we have not really seen the “Jersey Boys” thrive in the challenges. It seems like they are at a disadvantage at every task they are required to do.

I still have do not favorite team yet, do you?” The funny lines of the night were “this is the amazing exercise,” “I’m sorry I am just a girl” and “son of a monkey’s uncle.”   Who do you think will come first during the next leg? Am i the only one who predicts a fight between Brendon and the “Border Patrols?” Same time next week, see you then.

“The Amazing Race” airs Sundays on CBS at 8 EST.
