Liza Minnelli has been tapped to guest star on “Smash,” Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment, announced Tuesday.
The icon will guest-star as herself in the upcoming season of “Smash.” Minnelli will an original song with series regular Christian Borle.
“Liza Minnelli is the essence of a multi-talented, singular show business sensation, particularly for her extraordinary contributions to Broadway,” said Greenblatt. “So what could be more fitting than to have her legendary talent on a show that celebrates a world Liza has dazzled for decades? I had the pleasure of working with Liza when we restored her landmark television special ‘Liza With a Z’ at Showtime, and to see her artistry up close and personal is a thing to behold.”
Minnelli will appear in the episode titled “The Surprise Party,” which is slated to air in Spring 2013.
“Smash” season 2 premieres on Tuesday, February 5 at 10/9c on NBC.

Shirley Jones has been booked to appear on “Cougar Town.” ”The Partridge Family” veteran will play Anne, an elderly woman who purchases Grayson’s old house. [TVLine]
English Actor Rob Kazinsky has been as a series regular on “True Blood.” The “EastEnders” alum will play a faerie, and Sookie’s love interest. [TVLine]
Fox sophomore drama “Touch,” has added two recurring actors.
“24″ alum John Boyd and Inception‘s Dileep Rao have joined the series.
According to THR, Boyd is set to play Kase, a brilliant math and algorithm researcher. Kase is also Calvin’s confidant (Lukas Haas) and college friend. Meanwhile, Rao, will guest star as Vikash Nayar, a wealthy shareholder at Aster Corp.
The recurring actors join Said Taghmaoui, Adam Campbell, Ray Santiago, Lukas Haas, Saxon Sharbino and Greg Ellis for the second season of “Touch.”
“Touch” returns Fri., Oct. 26 at 8/7c p.m. on Fox.

Miley Cyrus is set to appear in a two-episode arc on “Two and a Half Men.” Miley will play Missy, a love interest for Jake.
Vera Farmiga (The Departed) has been tapped to play Norman Bates’s abusive and complicated mother on A&E new series “Bates Motel.” [EW]
Ali Wentworth will play Tom’s love interest on “Cougar Town.” [TVLine]
Bailey Buntain (Bunheads) will be guest-star on an upcoming episode of ”The Middle.” Buntain has been cast to play Jenna, a freshman Sue chooses to mentor. [EW]
Phoebe Tonkin has landed a role on “The Vampire Diaries.”
According to TVGuide, the former “Secret Circle” star will play Hayley, a wild, sexy, and free-spirited friend of Tyler’s (Michael Trevino). Tonkin is set to debut in the forthcoming season’s 3rd episode.
“The Vampire Diaries” premieres Thurs., Oct. 11.

Lifetime order a reality show starring Whitney Houston’s family, “Houston Family Chronicles” according to Huffington. Bobbie Kristina, Cissy, Pat Houston, Pat’s daughter, Rayah, and Gary Houston will be featured in the series. The one-hour reality show is set to premiere sometime in 2012. “Long Island Medium” was picked up for a third season by TLC
“Cougar Town” is moving to TBS! Courtney Cox’s series was picked for a season by the cable network. The fourth season will air early 2013 and consist of 15 episodes.
“Happy Endings” was renewed by ABC for a third season.
“Last Man Standing” was also renewed by ABC.
“Law And Order: SVU” was picked up for a fourteenth season.
HBO renewed its freshman comedies “Veep” and “Girls” for a second season for ten episode orders.
“Two and a Half Men” was renewed for a tenth season.
All Shonda Rhimes series “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Private Practice,” and “Scandal” were renewed.
Also renewed by ABC are “Castle,” “Once Upon a Time,” “Body of Proof,” “Apartment 23″ “DWTS,” “The Bachelor,” “Shark Tank”and “Revenge.”
“Nikita,” & “Hart Of Dixie” renewed by CW. “Gossip Girl” was also picked up a shorter and last season.
“30 Rock” renewed for a final and short season.
And “Touch,” was renewed For Season 2.

After just airing two episodes, ABC decides to pull ‘Work It’ off the air. ‘Work It’ is a show about two guys who are down on their luck due to the recession. They could not find jobs as men, but they realized women had more opportunities. So they dress up as women in order to earn a living. Due to this cancellation, ‘Cougar Town’ will be returning from its hiatus. Season three will be replacing ‘Work It’ starting Feb, 14. at 7:30/8:30. The producers of ‘Cougar Town’ decided not to change the title of the show, so ‘Cougar Town,’ remains. Penny can! Happy Valentine’s day!
