‘The Amazing Race’: Season Finale Recap!

The season finale of “The Amazing Race” was intense to say the least. The racers were put to the test, pushed to their limits. Some conquered, while some crumbled. There were mistakes, a false finish, and meltdowns. Duhh! But first let’s find out who made it to the last leg of the “race.”

The teams flew to Hiroshima, Japan from Cochin, India. All teams were on the same flight. Upon arriving teams had to board a bus and a ferry to Maynard Island. Rachel and Dave missed the last ferry of the night and had to board the next ferry at 6 a.m. No surprise, Captain Dave was mad. All teams caught up again since they couldn’t receive their next clue till sunrise.

They had to travel to Osaka, Japan for the next task. The next task which was the first roadblock: ‘bring the chicken home’ of the evening required the racers to run on a treadmill, while grabbing three chickens above them. Vanessa, Brendon, Rachel, and Art were the roadblockers this time. Vanessa had some troubles running because of her sprained ankle. Ouch! (But she had to complete the roadblock since Ralph had completed five roadblocks.) Ralph wanted to take the penalty since she was injured, but she pressed on and kept going till she completed the task.

Detour was next, the racers could choose either ‘bingo shout-out’ or ‘photo cut-off.’ ‘Bingo shout-out’ was basically a ‘sushi’ bingo. Teams were playing bingo but with sushi, they had to shout ‘sushi’ and eat five pieces of sushi when they got five sushi in a row. While ‘photo cut-off’ required teams to get a camera, three sumo cut-outs and take ten pictures of locals and deliver them to a local photographer. Team military was the only team that chose ‘photo cut-out.’

Osaka Castle was the pit stop of this leg of the race. Rachel and Dave were the first team to check with Phil once again, making it their seventh win. The couple also won a trip to New Zealand. Art and J.J. were the second to check with Phil followed by Brenchel (Brendon and Rachel).  Vanessa and Ralph were eliminated, the team was the last team to arrived at the pit stop.

Now for the final leg of the race, let the intensity begin.

Team Military, Team Brenchel, and Team Border Patrols were the last three teams in the race. All teams were on a twelve-hour flight to Honolulu, Hawaii. The next task was a riddle, they were suppose to figure out they were looking for a set of twin buildings. Art and J.J. didn’t were left behind because they didn’t get the riddle. The teams were required to ‘ascend and rappel’ down from one of the twin towers. At the top of the tower, the racers were supposed to spot their next clue. The next clue was a roadblock: ‘shave ice.’ Roadblockers (Brendon, Dave, and J.J.) had to shave ice with a sword and fill a bucket to a mark line.

After completing the roadblock, the racers were suppose to walk to a park nearby and ride a helicopter. Brenchel (Brendon and Rachel) made  mistake by taking their cab to another destination. O_o They made a million dollars mistake. Of course, Brenchel had a mini meltdown. This mistake put team military in the lead, with Brenchel loosing their advantage over the Border Patrols. The married couple moved on to the next task which was ‘rescue a swimmer.’ Team Military also made a mistake, after completing this task the team skipped the roadblock and raced to the finish line.

The roadblock was ‘Hawaiian Games.’ The first part of the roadblock required teams to surf down a mountain to a marked line without falling off. Teams also had to roll a ball disc shared rock into a goal post. All teams met up at this task. Border Patrols thought they were in the lead since they were the first team to arrive. Dave and Rachel were told by Phil that they didn’t complete a roadblock and had to go back and complete it. Rachel (Team Military) completed the task on her first try while Art was still struggling with the task. Brendon and Rachel also arrived after going back to the park and completing the previous tasks. Rachel also got the first task before Art did, but Art caught up and finished the second task before she did.

The married couple was on their to Secret Island, the last pit stop this season. They crossed the finish line for the second time with the eliminated racers applauding them. The married couple won “The Amazing Race!!” The couple won the million dollars and broke the record of the most wins. :) They deserved it. Art and J.J. finished in second place, with Brenchel finishing in third place. It was a long and tiring race, but they all completed it.

“The amazing race” returns this fall…until then race fans!

‘The Amazing Race’: Cochin, India. Season 20 ep 10.

This leg of the “race” picked up in Cochin, India. A couple of racers were sick. Art had a cold while Mark was still under the weather after the previous grueling roadblock. Mark was actually getting a drip before this leg of the “race” started. The military couple departed first, they received a greeting from a Priest and receive their next clue.

The next clue was a fast forward – if a team completes the fast forward they automatically skip the remaining tasks and  move on to the pit stop. Rachel, Dave, Art, J.J., could not complete the fast forward because each team already completed fast forwards earlier in the “race.” However, Vanessa and Ralph did not want to take risk. Brendon and Rachel however, opted for the fast forward, but when they realized it was a “shave head” forward they backed out. Each teammate was required to shave their hair, basically go bald. Rachel laments, “I paid $500 for hair extensions. I need hair to be pretty.” Brendon did not mind shaving his head, he does not have much hair anyway. I would not have done it either.

The roadblock task required the racers to spin and spoon 40 feet of rope made from the husk of coconuts. The men including Art completed this challenge for their team. Ralph had some difficulties getting a grip of this roadblock. J.J., on the other hand was mad when he realized nobody did the fast forward. He asked Rachel why she and Brendon did not complete the roadblock. She informed him, they had to shave their heads. Of course, J.J., was pissed because Mark and Bopper would have a straight shot to the pit stop, while the four teams would compete for the fourth place spot. J.J., then starts to mess with Rachel saying if they (Rachel and Brendon) lose it is because she (Rachel) did not shave her head. Gullible Rachel took the bait and began to doubt her decision.

At this point in the race, Mark and Bopper just started racing, three hours behind the other teams. They incur a “paint Tiger” speed bump (because they were the last team to finish the last leg). The teammates were required to paint a Tiger on a male dancer’s body. After completing the speed bump, Bopper and Mark decided to take on the fast forward. They made this decision because they thought nobody chose the fast forward, which they did not. So the lucky Cowboys shaved their head for a million bucks. Would you shave yours for a million dollars? At the other side of town, Vanessa fell while running to her taxi, she twisted her ankle. Ouch.

The detour was next. Teams had to choose between “pachy derm” or “pack a box.” Pachy derm” required teams to decorate an Elephant with a gold headdress and ornaments. Like Vanessa said, “this was the best detour hands down.” After completing that, teams also had to shovel fifteenth wheelbarrows of Elephant manure to a nearby truck. While “pack a box” required teams to pack ten wooden boxes of dry ginger, seal and deliver it to a local deport. Every team except for the Border Patrols chose “pachy derm.” The boys (Art and J.J.) had trouble with this detour. It was so bad, that J.J. accidentally cut his pinky with the sheet metal.

Rachel and Dave finished the detour first with the other teams trailing behind them. The next clue instructed teams to board a ferry to the pit stop. Rachel and Mark won this leg, the team’s sixth win. The couple won $10,000 each.  Rachel and Brendon were the second team to finish this leg, with Vanessa and Ralph coming in third. On the mat, Vanessa implied Rachel and Brendon did not shovel fifteen wheelbarrows of Elephant manure, but Rachel said they did. And asked why she trying to start something on the mat. I thought it was going to get intense for a minute, but it didn’t. The two ladies decided to squash their beef and move on. They apologized but did not hug each other. We will see how long this last.

Art and J.J. thought they were going to be eliminated, but they are still in the “race.” The Cowboys were eliminated on instead even though they completed the fast forward, the team was the last team to arrive at the pit stop. Our lucky Cowboys were not so lucky this week. :( I was/am sad, they were eliminated. Mark said, “”the amazing race” is called the amazing race for a reason it is amazing.” :)

The “race” continues next Sun., with a two-hour season finale. Who do you think will win “The Amazing Race?” Let us know by voting in the poll below. A team makes a costly mistake next week, who do you think it is? Below is the preview of the finale, take a look.

The Amazing Race” airs Sundays, 8/7c on CBS!

‘The Amazing Race:’ Cochin, India. Season 20 Ep 9.

Last night’s episode of the race was intense, the heat in India physically affected some racers especially Mark, which almost made him quit the race. Before the teams made  their way to Cochin, India, The ‘married couple’ & ‘the border patrols’ met at the travel agency but did not  acknowledge each other. The u-turn feud continues. All teams excluding Vanessa & Ralph boarded the same flight to India while Vanessa & Ralph flew to India via Nairobi. But all teams arrived in Cochin at the same time.

Upon arriving in Cochin, the racers had to board a bus to Scared Heart College. Roadblock was the next clue. Teams had to dance Bollywood style. They had to learn a routine and perform the routine for the Bollywood choreographer to receive their next clue. Rachel, J.J., Rachel, Mark, and Vanessa chose to be the roadblockers this week. The guys had a bit of challenge performing the ‘roadblock’. J.J. & Mark had no rhythm, the teams with women fared better with the task. Rachel danced her way through ‘roadblock’ with every body else trailing behind. Bopper and Mark were the last team at the roadblock. According to Bopper, Mark “has no rhythm but has a heart”. Bopper wished he was the teammate dancing and not Mark, but he couldn’t because of his injury. (He twisted his ankle and knee during the last leg). Bopper wanted to take the penalty or go home but Mark wanted to complete the roadblock. They were ready to quit because Mark was sick. :( But Mark decided to give the task a last try, he wanted to prove to his kids he doesn’t quit. So he danced one more time, the 12th time and finally accomplished the task. The group of dancers hugged Mark as they celebrated. Awww, so sweet.

The next task was a ‘detour’. Each team could either choose ‘cricket’ or ‘clutch it’. ‘Cricket’ required each teammate to hit a ball to a certain boundary. On the other hand, ‘clutch it’ required teammate to learn how to drive a rickshaw, a three-wheeler vehicle around an obstacle course. The married couple and the dating divorcees chose ‘clutch it’ while the ‘big brother’ couple and the border patrols chose ‘cricket’. Rachel and Brendon beat Art & J.J. while play cricket which pissed the border patrols off. Shocker! Rachel & Dave worked together to complete the obstacle course without arguing of course.

India’s Bolgatty Palace was the pit stop this week. Rachel and Dave arrived at the pit stop first place this week, for the fifth time. The other racers arrived at the Palace in the following order: Brendon & Rachel, Art & J.J., Vanessa & Ralph and Mark & Bopper. The cowboys thought they were going to be eliminated last night, but Phil informed them it was a non-elimination. So once again, the lucky cowboys are still in the million dollars race. :)

Will Mark and Bopper breeze through the speed bump next week? Tune in next Sunday for an all-new episode of “The Amazing Race”.

The Amazing Race” airs Sundays, 8/7c on CBS!

‘The Amazing Race.’ Baku, Azerbaijan. Season 20 ep. 6

On this episode of ‘The Amazing Race’ Art & J.J. were dethroned by the ‘married couple,’ while we discovered Bopper has a crush on Jamie and Mark gets car-sick while riding in the backseat.

The teams made their way to Baku, Azerbaijan via Istanbul, Turkey. Everyone was on the same flight. Vanessa thought Azerbaijan was going to be nice and warm, because it is called The Land of Fire. Of course, Mark thought they all going to Africa. Bopper: “Do you think we are going to Africa?” Mark: “I think it is. Land of fire.” Bopper: “Azerbaijan” Mark: “Sounds Africa to me” Duhh!  LOL! Upon arriving in Baku, the teams’ next clue was at the Temple of Fire. When they arrived, they thought they were going to get their next clue and be on their way. But the Temple of Fire does not open until sunrise, so the racers decided to dance with the locals.

Fun fact: a team can not compete in a Fast Forward if they have completed one in an earlier episode. The next clue was a Fast Forward and a Route Info. Rachel & Dave, and Joey & Danny chose the Fast Forward task while the remaining racers -Art a& J.J., Brendon & Rachel, Nary & Jamie, and Vanessa & Ralph, Bopper & Mark- chose to complete the Roadblock. The fast forward task required teams to unload 150 bales of hay, and build a ten long, three wide and five high bale of hay. The first team who wins the Fast Forward moves on to the pit-stop, while the losing team returns to the Roadblock. The ‘married couple’ won the Fast Forward putting them in first place while the Jersey boys had to catch up with the other teams making them the last team at that point in the race.

The Roadblock task: Escape Helicopter, instructed the teams to seat in a helicopter upside down, swim through a window to their next clue. J.J., Jamie, Bopper, Brendon, Vanessa and Joey all completed the Roadblock for their respective teams, although Vanessa had some problems facing her fear of being claustrophobic and underwater. She completed the Roadblock like a pro. Mark revealed to Nary that Bopper has a crush on Jamie, her teammate. Awww. On the other side of town, the Jersey Boys were on their way to the Swimming task, while Rachel and Dave were checking in with Phil. They won this leg of the race dethroning Art and J.J., and winning a couple of Fords.

Meanwhile, the next clue was a detour. The teams could either choose oil or Apples. Oil detour required the teams to scrape and use sponge and water to remove crude oil off a bather’s body after he is done soaking in oil. The locals believe they receive blessings as they soak in crude oil. Crude oil tho? Hmm. Apples, on the other hand required teams to search for an Apple marked with ‘The Amazing Race’s flag among hundreds of Apples in an old Soviet Union Car. Nary and Jamie chose Apples while Brenchel, Bopper and Mark, Art and J.J. opted for oil. It seemed Nary and Jamie searched for hours, allowing the ‘dating divorcees’ to catch up with them.

While at the other Detour, the teams had to scrape crude off some hairy, tall bathers. The scene was definitely not pleasant. Everyone was pretty uncomfortable.I was surprised no one switched Detours. The comeback kids this week were Joey and Danny, the boys breezed through the Roadblock and caught up with Vanessa and Ralph while they were searching for the marked Apple. The other teams already completed their detours and were on their way to check in with Phil. The teams finished this leg in the following order: Rachel and Dave, Art and J. J., not bad for a team who could not compete with the Fast Forward, Bopper and Mark, Brenchel, and Nary and Jamie.

Team Divorcees were almost eliminated this week because their cab driver had no idea where the pit-stop was located. Joey and Danny caught up with Vanessa and Ralph and quickly found their marked Apple.  It was a race to the finish line. Danny foreshadowed himself and Joey losing last night because Joey wanted to say hi to the other team; Vanessa & Ralph. Joey and Danny took a risk which failed miserably, making them the team eliminated last night.

The racers had to scrape crude oil off a bather, tell us, what would you do for a million dollars? ‘The Amazing Race’  returns all-new in two weeks, in Africa! Until then race fans!

According to the preview, there is going to be DRAMA. Click here for the preview.

“The Amazing Race” airs Sundays on CBS at 8 EST.

‘The Amazing Race;’ Asuncion, Paraguay. Season 20, ep. 3 recap!

On this week episode of “The Amazing Race,” Rachel and Dave were the first team to receive the first clue this leg of the race, since they were the first team to check in with Phil last week. The clue instructed them to travel to Asunción, Paraguay. The second team to leave was Art and J.J. The first two teams tried to get on standby so they could arrive in Paraguay a couple of hours earlier than the other teams. While the first two teams were waiting for standby, the other teams arrived at the airport. The travel agent informs Art, J.J., Rachel, & Dave that only eight people can get on the standby flight. The teams on the first flight were the “married couple,” “border patrols,” “federal agents,” and “friends (Mark and Bopper).”

The remaining teams boarded the second flight to Paraguay. The next clue was a Detour. The teams could either choose “Stacked Up” or “Strung Out.” ‘Stacked Up,” The teams are required to go the largest fruit market in Paraguay, find a marked  truck full of Watermelons and create a 10 by 10 Watermelon pyramid. While the “Strung Out” Detour required the teams to attached 36 strings to a harp, and if their instrument is rightly tuned, they will receive their next clue. All the teams on the first flight decided to go with “Stacked Up.” The “Border Patrols” conquered the challenge right on the first try, putting them in the lead. Meanwhile, the other teams’ Watermelons fell a couple of times, so everyone decided to switch detours. Meanwhile, the “married couple,” Rachel & Dave argue about using their Express Pass – a pass that allows them to skip a challenge because they won the first leg of the race.

The next clue handed to the “Border Patrols” was a Roadblock clue, “Bottle Dance.” The Roadblock requires a teammate of every team to dance like the locals with a bottle on his or her head. If a team breaks all the bottles given to them, the team will incur a two-hour penalty. Art tackles the Roadblock with grace for the “Border Patrols” putting them in first place once again. Meanwhile, “Brenchel” were the first team on the second flight to make their way to the local market. Although, they decided to switch Detours because Rachel was uncomfortable.

The next clue instructed Art & J.J. to walk to the next pit, a few blocks away from the Roadblock challenge. They were the first team to check in with Phil this week. The “married couple” decides to use their Express Pass without even trying to do the Detour because the teams on the second flight caught up with them. Rachel and Brendon finished the “Strung Out” Detour, putting them in 3rd place, while the other teams struggle with the “Strung Out” Detour. Dave could not balance any of the bottles on his head, incurring his team a two-hour penalty, while Vanessa & Ralph, and Joey & Danny opt for the “Stacked Up” Detour.

The “Jersey Boys” finish the Detour while the “Dating Divorcees” struggle with their Watermelon pyramid. Rachel, Bopper, Joey, Nary, Cherie do the Roadblock challenge. Finishing the Roadblock task, Brendon and Rachel in 2nd place to check in with Phil, while “Jersey Boys” in 3rd place, “Federal agents” in 4th place, Mark & Bopper in 5th place, Rachel and Dave in 6th place, and the “cousins” in 7th place. The two teams left to check in with Steve were the “twins” and the “dating divorcees,” they both wanted to switch Detours at some point but decided against it. The “Twins” finish the Detour first while Vanessa and Ralph still struggled with the Watermelons. The “dating divorcees” finally caught up with the “twins” at the Roadblock challenge. However, Ralph finishes the Roadblock task before Elliot does making the ”twins” the team eliminated this week.

Rant:

The funny line tonight was: Mark, “ride it like you stole it, baby.” He cracks me up all the time. :) J.J. needs a chill pill. He needs to stop criticizing the way the other teams race around the world and just play the game. Finally! We see some backstabbing and strategies. The “Southern friends” “lied” to the “cousins” by telling them the Watermelon Detour was not hard. As the “cousins” said it, “the gloves are off.” Vanessa was trash-talking Rachel which made Rachel & Brendon leave the Watermelon Detour because she was uncomfortable. Rachel finally gave me a bit of her fiery self, ”her disgusting smile is painted on like her overdone makeup.” I’m patiently waiting on the cat-fight tho. I find it funny that Rachel & Dave pretty much did not do any task this leg of the race, but wanted to be the first team to check in with Steve. I mean they can’t come first every week, and they pretty much wasted their Express Pass, because they were the sixth team to check in with Steve. I still do not have a favorite team, do you have one? Let me know. Same time next week. Chao!  Click here for the promo.

“The Amazing Race” airs Sundays on CBS at 8 EST.

“The Amazing Race;” Buenos Aires, Argentina Season 20, ep. 2 recap.

Rachel & Dave, the “Married couple” departed first at 2:46 am, since they were the first team to check in at the last pit stop. They were closely followed by the “Big Brother” couple, Brendon & Rachel, “Border Patrols” Art & J.J, “Federal Agents” Nary & Jamie, “Dating divorced couple” Vanessa & Ralph, “Twins” Elliot & Andrew, “Cousins” Kerri & Stacy, “Clowns” Dave & Cherie, “Friends” Mark & Bopper and “Friends” Joey & Danny.

The first clue of the episode instructed the teams to drive to Cafayate Town Square and find a the mounted horseman who will hand them their next clue. The mounted horseman comes in at dawn, so the teams caught up with each other. The next clue the teams received was a detour clue, they two options either do the “Boil My Water” task or “Light A Fire” task.

“Boil My Water”, the teams were required to build a solar kitchen, with the guide of a picture, and boil a kettle of water using solar energy and wait until the kettle whistles. While “Light A Fire” on the hand, instructed the teams to gather some clay and firewood by the river bank, load it on a Donkey, and lead it to a local pottery workshop a mile away. Every team except the “Border Patrols” chose the “Boil My Water” detour. The challenges of the “Boil My Water” task was to put together a solar kitchen by using a mere picture and waiting on the sun to boil a kettle of water.

All the teams arrived at their detour locations on time, while Art & J.J. fell behind while trying to find “The Amazing Race” marker that will lead them to  the “Light A Fire” place. Luckily the “Border Patrols” had some help, and were the second team to finished the detour task.  The Southern men were in first place. The next task requested the teams to board a 18 hours bus to Buenos Aires. The bus each team rode depended on the time they arrived at the bus terminal. The teams were divided on three buses. Art & J.J. Brendon & Rachel, Mark & Bopper and Rachel & Dave rode on the first bus while the teams on the second bus were the “Clowns,” “Jersey Boys,” “Dating divorced couple, ” and the “Twins.” That left the “Cousins” and the “Federal Agents” on the last bus to Buenos Aires.

On the way to Buenos Aires the second teams’ bus had a minor difficulty, which made Kerri, Stacy, Nary, and Jamie’s bus the second bus to arrive in Buenos Aires. Although Kerri, Stacy, Nary and Jamie were unaware when one of the buses broke down. Upon arriving at Buenos Aires, Rachel & Dave were the first team to find the next clue at Mercado De Hacienda De Liniers. The next task was a roadblock challenge. The task “Where is the beef?” required a member of each team to count the number of cattle in one of the corrals and calculate the average weight per cattle after an auctioneer yelled out the total weight of the cattle. The calculation had to be completed before the auctioneer move to another corral. The challenges of the roadblock were to calculate the average weight of the cattle without a calculator while the auction was going on.

After a few attempts, the teams realized they could not solve the task by themselves so they worked together. Rachel and J.J partnered up, while “Big Brother” Rachel and Mark worked together. The next clue which was handed to the Rachel and J.J. because they were the first team to finish the roadblock, instructed the teams to hail a taxi to El Gomero, the pit stop for this leg of the race. Once again Rachel and Dave were the first team to arrive at the pit stop, closely followed by the “Border Patrol, southern friends, and Brenchel (Brendon & Rachel).

Immediately as all the teams on the first bus checked in with Phil, the last bus rolled in. Joey and Andrew  solved the roadblock together leaving Dave, the “Married Clowns” in last place.  Dave, a member of the “Clowns” had some difficulty solving the roadblock.  This made the “Clowns” the last team to check in with Phil making them the second team eliminated. The “Federal Agents” lied to their fellow competitors that they are Teachers.

Rant:

J.J. and Art complain so much, it is annoying. The setback was only twenty minutes.  They eventually made up the time; they need to relax and enjoy their experience. I’m sad to see the “Clowns” leave, they were my underdogs. :( The “Cousins” are so adorable, cheering while they checked in with Phil. Rachel, known for crying all the time in the “Big Brother” house and breaking down did not disappoint me this week by having a minor breakdown. Lastly,we have not really seen the “Jersey Boys” thrive in the challenges. It seems like they are at a disadvantage at every task they are required to do.

I still have do not favorite team yet, do you?” The funny lines of the night were “this is the amazing exercise,” “I’m sorry I am just a girl” and “son of a monkey’s uncle.”   Who do you think will come first during the next leg? Am i the only one who predicts a fight between Brendon and the “Border Patrols?” Same time next week, see you then.

“The Amazing Race” airs Sundays on CBS at 8 EST.
