Other highlights from HBO’s TCA conference:
Larry David will produce and star in a film directed by Greg Mottola (Superbad, Paul). It is not a “Curb Your Enthusiasm” movie. David will be busy with the movie for the time being so “Curb”will be on hold for a ninth season. HBO co-president Richard Plepler said“It means whatever [for "Curb Your Enthusiasm"] Larry wants it to mean. He has essentially carte blanche. When he wants ["Curb"] to come back, we’ll be thrilled.”
What of “Entourage” movie? Well that might still happen. HBO co-president Lombardo told critics at TCA that creator Doug Ellin is writing the script. “We’d still have to make deals with the cast and figure out if this is something that makes sense or not.”
As for “Game of Thrones” HBO executives stated, ”as long as author [George R. R. Martin] keeps writing, we’ll keep producing.” “Treme,” however doesn’t share the same fate. The network is currently “having discussions” about whether there would be a fourth season.
Meanwhile, “True Blood” might be on air for a while. “The show’s obviously doing well,” Lombardo shared. “As long as it continues to be performing with the consumer, and more importantly exciting the storytellers, I think we’re there.”
