‘True Blood’ Casts Jurnee Smollett & Amelia Rose And More Casting News

Jurnee Smollett and Amelia Rose are heading to Bon Temps.

“Friday Night Lights” alumna Jurnee Smollett has joined the vampire drama as a series regular and “90210′s” Amelia Rose Blaire has been nabbed to recur in the upcoming season, according to TVLine.

Smollett will play optimist Nicole, who is concerned with doing the right thing versus doing something for compensation. Meanwhile, Blaire will play Willa, Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell’s (Arliss Howard) daughter, who disagrees with her father over vampire rights.

According to Deadline, Robert Patrick has been promoted to a series regular on the drama series. Patrick played Alcide’s (Joe Manganiello) father on HBO’s vampire series “True Blood.”

The “X Flies” vet recently starred on ABC’s ill-fated “Last Resort.”

Liza Minnelli has been tapped to guest star on “Smash,” Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment, announced Tuesday.

The icon will guest-star as herself  in the upcoming season of “Smash.” Minnelli will an original song with series regular Christian Borle.

“Liza Minnelli is the essence of a multi-talented, singular show business sensation, particularly for her extraordinary contributions to Broadway,” said Greenblatt. “So what could be more fitting than to have her legendary talent on a show that celebrates a world Liza has dazzled for decades? I had the pleasure of working with Liza when we restored her landmark television special ‘Liza With a Z’ at Showtime, and to see her artistry up close and personal is a thing to behold.”

Minnelli will appear in the episode titled “The Surprise Party,” which is slated to air in Spring 2013.
